Buranovo Grannies to turn into festival
The festival “Buranovo Grannies” will take place in Udmurtia, Interfax states.
Alexander Volkov said to the agency: “It’ll be a folk stimulus to live and distinctive, what is forgotten a bit or the meaning of which is lost”. Mr. Volkov added that the idea’s initiator was RF culture ministry Vladimir Medinsky, who phoned the President of Udmurtia right after ESC-2012, in which the collective took the second place.

Festival is planned to be held yearly in different regions of the country. First time it’ll take place in the native village of the collective. The RF Culture Ministry will announce its date, and it’ll take place in summer in online regime”.

Udmurtia is known for a whole series of music festivals, the most famous of which is one, named after Chaikovsky in Votkinsk. It has been held since 1958. In 2015 it’ll be composer’s 175th anniversary, to which 6 billion of roubles will be transferred. A part of this sum will be assigned for financing the festival. Besides, many electronic music festivals are held in the republic – its capital Izhevsk is one of the main centers of this music direction in Russia.

A great many of folk festivals are held in Russia. These are international, all-Russian and regional holidays as well as festivals, devoted to creative activity of small nations.
