Drake and J. Cole Share Meme-Filled "First Person Shooter" Video

Just one day after announcing their 2024 tour, Drake and J. Cole are head-to-head in the new Gibson Hazard-directed music video for “First Person Shooter.”

The visual arrived Wednesday afternoon and is jam-packed with meme culture references and CGI effects. It starts in an office with Brian Baumgartner, aka Kevin from the mockumentary sitcom “The Office,” listening to the single while playing a first-person shooter game on his work computer. He gets a call from “The CEO” and assures them that everyone is busy at their desks when in reality his worker bees — namely Drake and J. Cole –are in a conference room playing table tennis.

As the video unfolds, we see the rappers recreate memes including Spider-Man pointing at Spider-Man and pop culture moments like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo playing chess from their Louis Vuitton campaign.

Drake also makes nods to Michael Jackson, busting a move with a white glove on his right hand, since “First Person Shooter’s” No. 1 debut on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart placed Drake in a tie with Michael Jackson for the most No. 1 singles among solo males (13), and the fourth-most among all acts. Immediately after that news broke, Drake posted a photoshopped picture of Jackson wearing his label OVO’s merchandise with the caption “Mooooooooood,” and tagged J. Cole. (“First Person Shooter” became Drake’s 13th No. 1 single and J. Cole’s first when it debuted on the charts in October.)

All 23 songs off “First Person Shooter’s” parent LP, “For All The Dogs,” appeared in the top 50 of the singles chart in its first tracking week.
