The Weeknd gave fans in Sydney an exclusive treat by previewing a new song titled ‘Open Hearts’ during his performance at Accor Stadium on October 23. Though Abel Tesfaye – better known as The Weeknd – didn’t sing live during the teaser, he stayed on stage, lip-syncing the lyrics to the track as it played over the speakers.
‘Open Hearts’ brings a dancey, electronic beat to the mix, paired with an intense light show that accompanied the preview, giving fans a glimpse of what might come on his highly anticipated upcoming album, ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’.
During the same show, Tesfaye also performed ‘One Of The Girls’ live for the first time, a collaboration with Lily-Rose Depp and BLACKPINK’s Jennie from the soundtrack of HBO’s The Idol, a show they all starred in.
‘Open Hearts’ follows the release of ‘Timeless’ featuring Playboi Carti, which dropped in late September, and the album’s lead single, ‘Dancing In The Flames’. All three tracks are set to be part of Hurry Up Tomorrow, which is the third and final chapter in the trilogy that began with After Hours and Dawn FM.
The artwork for Hurry Up Tomorrow was recently unveiled on social media, revealing a more personal, close-up image of Tesfaye’s face, signaling a shift from the prosthetics-heavy visuals of the After Hours era. While no official release date has been announced, the album is already shaping up to be one of the most anticipated releases of the year.
A statement about the project described it as “the creative apex of the trilogy,” with existential and self-referential themes that have fueled excitement for this final installment.
