Avicii’s “Hey Brother” Hits 1 Billion Streams on Spotify

Avicii’s iconic track “Hey Brother” has officially surpassed 1 billion streams on Spotify, nearly a decade after its release. To mark this milestone, featured vocalist Dan Tyminski has shared his reflections in an exclusive new interview.

Released in 2013 as part of Avicii’s debut album “True,” “Hey Brother” stands out for its innovative blend of EDM with bluegrass and folk influences. This unique fusion has solidified its place as a fan favorite and a standout track in Avicii’s extensive discography.

In his recent interview, American singer-songwriter Dan Tyminski, who provided the distinctive vocals for “Hey Brother,” expressed his admiration for the song. “I fell in love with the song immediately, as soon as I heard it,” Tyminski revealed. “I don’t think I’ll ever have the opportunity to record something that’s reached farther into the corners of the earth than ‘Hey Brother’.”

Tyminski was also a performer at last year’s Avicii tribute concert, “Together For A Better Day,” held at the Avicii Arena in Stockholm. This event, hosted by the Tim Bergling Foundation, aimed to promote mental health awareness and suicide prevention, honoring the late artist’s legacy following his tragic death in 2018.

In celebration of the 10th anniversary of Avicii's groundbreaking album “True,” never-before-seen concert footage was released last year. Additionally, the album’s lead single “Wake Me Up” achieved diamond status, cementing its place as the highest-performing dance single in history.

Fans can watch the exclusive interview with Dan Tyminski below, reflecting on the journey and impact of “Hey Brother.”

Looking ahead, a new documentary about Avicii, directed by Swedish filmmaker Henrik Burman, is set to premiere at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival. Earlier this month, Avicii's final concert in Sweden was screened in Stockholm, accompanied by the launch of a new podcast, “from fans, for fans,” celebrating the artist’s enduring influence.
