1948 - Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham is born in Redditch, Worcestershire, England.

1962 - Pop singer Corey Hart is born in Montréal, Québec, Canada.

1968 - While recording vocals for "Revolution," John Lennon engages in some spontaneous ranting that is later incorporated into the enigmatic track "Revolution 9."
1980 - The disco group Lipps, Inc. reaches #1 in America with their hit "Funkytown," which is a homage to New York City.

1980 - Fall Out Boy drummer Andy Hurley is born in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin.
1982 - R.E.M. signed a contract with I.R.S. Records, an independent label located in California, to release five albums.

1983 - Following a hiatus during which David Byrne and Jerry Harrison pursued solo projects and Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth formed Tom Tom Club, Talking Heads make a comeback with their fifth album, Speaking In Tongues. This album features their biggest hit, "Burning Down The House."
