Calvin Harris and Miley Cyrus Collab Shelved

Rumors are swirling that the highly anticipated collaboration between Calvin Harris and Miley Cyrus has been shelved.

Back in May, the Scottish DJ teased fans with a serene beach video captioned, "summer soon," featuring a tantalizing snippet of a female vocalist over a mellow guitar and thumping techno beat. Fans quickly speculated that the smoky, raspy vocals belonged to none other than Miley Cyrus, sparking hopes of a summer anthem.

Calvin Harris, in true mysterious fashion, revealed in the comments that he was “trying” to release the track but wasn’t sure when it would drop. However, the buzz took a nosedive recently when Harris deleted all related posts, leading to speculation that the project had been discarded.

The tease came just in time for Harris's summer tour, which includes a headline set at TRNSMT Festival 2024 in Glasgow, where he’ll be sharing the stage with Liam Gallagher, Garbage and Chase & Status. His Las Vegas and Ibiza residencies are also in full swing, adding fuel to the anticipation fire.

This wouldn’t be the first time Harris has kept fans on their toes. His recent BRITs 2024 win for Best Dance Act, beating out heavyweights like Fred Again.. and Becky Hill, solidified his status as the dance music kingpin. Despite losing the Pop Act category to Dua Lipa, Harris continues to dominate the dance music scene.

Interestingly, Harris has hinted at stepping away from DJing as he approaches 50. In a candid chat with DJ Mag, he said, “I always said that once I get past 50, I can’t see me DJing, The more commercial end [of DJing], it gets a wee bit… a little bit suspect. I think I’d prefer to be in the studio making tunes.” Harris seems ready to focus more on producing and less on the late-night DJ sets.

In other news, Harris recently clapped back at critics who found his Ultra Music set "underwhelming," proving that even dance music royalty isn’t immune to the haters.
