Ariana Grande Teases "Mini" Tour to Support "Eternal Sunshine"

Pop sensation Ariana Grande has dropped some exciting news for fans eagerly awaiting live renditions of her latest album, "Eternal Sunshine." In a recent interview, Grande opened up about the overwhelmingly positive fan response to her newest release and hinted at potential live performances, despite her jam-packed calendar.

"Eternal Sunshine," which landed this past March, follows her 2020 album "Positions" and showcases a more introspective side of Grande's songwriting. Music critics were delighted with the material, and the release itself charted well, it’s clear the album struck a chord with listeners. It even snagged a spot on NME’s list of the year’s best albums so far, praised for its inventive and intimate exploration of life, love, and divorce.

Despite the critical acclaim and fan adoration, Grande has been tight-lipped about touring plans—until now. With her energy currently focused on the much-anticipated film adaptation of the Broadway smash hit, "Wicked," Grande’s schedule is busier than ever. The movie, set to be released in two parts, stars Cynthia Erivo, Jeff Goldblum, and Grande herself, and promises to deliver a fresh take on the untold story of the witches of Oz. A teaser trailer dropped in May, only fueling the excitement.

In her chat on the Shut Up Evan podcast, Grande revealed that she still hopes to squeeze in some live shows amid her filming commitments. “I think it’d be a really lovely idea to be able to trickle in some shows in between the two Wicked films,” she said. “It’s definitely, for a multitude of reasons, not going to be a tour in the way I used to tour. It’d be a mini little sampling of shows. I do think it’d be really nice to do that. It’s something that me and my team are working on.”

If these plans materialize, it would mark Grande’s first official run of live shows since wrapping up her "Sweetener" tour in 2019. That tour was a colossal success, culminating in the release of a 32-track live album titled "k bye for now (swt live)," which featured recordings from various dates across London, Copenhagen, Nashville, New York, and more. The tour was a testament to Grande's enduring appeal, with setlists spanning hits from "Sweetener," "Thank U, Next," and earlier albums like "Dangerous Woman" and "My Everything."

While new music isn't immediately on the horizon, Grande has hinted at a deluxe edition of "Eternal Sunshine," featuring unreleased tracks. “I want to take my time to execute this vision for the deluxe [edition]… Make sure it’s worth the wait and as special as I think it can be,” she shared. “I have specific ideas and I’m going to take my time to make them beautiful and perfect. And then we’ll see. I’ll let it be a surprise but I wouldn’t say any time super soon.”
