Cher Teases What Could Be Her Final Album

At 78, Cher is showing no signs of slowing down creatively, but the legendary icon has hinted that her next studio album might be her swan song. Speaking at London’s Lyceum Theatre during an event for her memoir, Cher: The Memoir, Part One, the pop diva shared her excitement about the upcoming project, calling it “probably [her] last album.”

“I’m really excited to be doing anything now,” she said. “They are great songs and I’m just really excited that I’m doing it.”

Cher’s last release, Christmas (2023), marked her first album of original material in a decade and her 27th studio effort overall. While the holiday-themed LP was a fun detour, her upcoming work promises a return to the non-seasonal tracks that have defined her legendary career.

Reflecting on her age and legacy, the Believe singer approached the topic with her trademark humor. “I’m older than dirt now, OK?” she quipped. “I know I’m older, but I don’t know how to feel it. I don’t know how to feel any different than the way I’ve always felt.”

Cher also opened up about her relationships and the energy she finds in younger circles, including her 38-year-old partner, producer Alexander “A.E.” Edwards. “I like young people because a lot of my friends don’t want to have that much fun. They can just go off and be old fogies.”

Edwards, who collaborated with Cher on Christmas, is reportedly involved in this upcoming project too, contributing songs and production expertise. Cher expressed gratitude for their creative partnership: “He’s a producer, a writer, he does everything. It’s exciting to have that kind of talent around.”

If this truly is Cher’s final album, it will cap off a career that began nearly six decades ago with her 1965 debut, All I Really Want to Do. But as she’s proven time and time again, Cher isn’t one to fade quietly into the background. “I don’t care if you’re 50,” she said. “I’d give anything to be 60 again. I was a f**king hottie!"

Cher’s next chapter in music may be her last, but her unparalleled impact on the industry is eternal.
