Weeks after wrapping up her spectacular "Celebration Tour", the Queen of Pop, Madonna, is reportedly back in action, diving into her highly anticipated biopic. The iconic singer had paused the project to embark on her global tour celebrating 40 years of musical hits, but now, sources reveal, she is ready to refocus her energy on this cinematic endeavor.
“Madonna has only just finished her tour but in her mind it is on to the next project and fulfilling her dream of getting the biopic made,” insiders tell The Sun’s Bizarre column. “Julia [Garner] is still her lead actress and they have remained in touch for the past year, talking through ideas. They are committed to creating some magic.”
Sharing the "Express Yourself" singer’s inspirations for the movie, sources add: “Madonna feels that Queen’s "Bohemian Rhapsody" and Elton John’s "Rocketman" biopics have paved the way for her. She wants to make this more unique and dramatic than those. A range of secret meets are being organised with Universal Pictures to get the project nailed down."
“There is a lot to work on with locking down the rest of the cast, arranging shoots and completing the script but the hope is that they can start filming in the next 12 months.”
Madonna is deeply involved in the project and will direct the feature, first announced in 2020.
“I want to convey the incredible journey that life has taken me on as an artist, a musician, a dancer — a human being, trying to make her way in this world,” she said in a statement at the time.
“The focus of this film will always be music. Music has kept me going and art has kept me alive. There are so many untold and inspiring stories and who better to tell it than me.
“It’s essential to share the roller coaster ride of my life with my voice and vision."
