Lil Nas X Drops Infectious New Single "Here We Go!" for Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F

You've got the right to remain silent, but good luck resisting the urge to sing along to Lil Nas X’s latest earworm, "Here We Go!" Dropping just in time for Netflix’s upcoming release of "Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F," this track is guaranteed to be the anthem of the summer.

Sampling the iconic "Axel F" theme by Harold Faltermeyer, the 25-year-old rapper lays down his claim to the throne over a thumping bass and trap beat. “And tell them don’t die tryna catch us/ Could go a million miles wouldn’t catch up,” Nas croons, setting the stage for a high-energy vibe. The track hit the airwaves on June 28, and it's already making waves.

"Axel F" was a Billboard Hot 100 top-five smash in 1985, and Lil Nas X is bringing it back with a modern twist. This marks his first solo drop since January's “Where Do We Go Now?” and promises to be the main theme for "Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F." The film, starring Eddie Murphy, premieres on Netflix on July 3, rekindling the magic of the classic franchise.

Reflecting on the opportunity to contribute to the soundtrack, Lil Nas X shared his excitement in a candid chat with the film’s cast. “It was actually kind of insane,” he admitted. “I was a bit emotional … I’m happy to do it. I hope I’m not slaughtered by people who love the original.” Eddie Murphy, always the supportive icon, chimed in with, “Nah, your track is bananas.”

Lil Nas X is on a roll this year. Along with "Here We Go!," he has blessed us with the solo single “J Christ” and collaborations with Camila Cabello on “He Knows” and Kevin Abstract on “Tennessee.” Despite not releasing an album since his 2021 debut LP Montero, which hit No. 2 on the Billboard 200, he's keeping fans on their toes with these fresh drops.

Adding to the hype, Nas teased his new track on a now-deleted Instagram post, writing: “so excited to release the best song of all time this friday! also sorry I’ve been so scared with my art lately. I’m coming around to myself again. I will make you guys very proud.”
