Slim Shady is back, and he’s not coming quietly. Eminem has just teased his latest single, "Tobey," featuring fellow Detroit natives Big Sean and BabyTron. This track is the second sneak peek from his upcoming album, ‘The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce),’ set to drop later this year.
In classic Eminem style, the announcement came with a dramatic trailer. Posted on Instagram, the clip shows Em revving a chainsaw and splattered with blood, wearing a Jason Voorhees mask. Meanwhile, BabyTron and Big Sean look on, with Sean spitting a line about Spider-Man: “Tobey Maguire got bit by a spider/But me, see it was a goat.”
The single will hit streaming platforms on July 2, with a music video following on July 5. Directed by the ever-creative Cole Bennett, this one promises to be as wild as the teaser suggests.
"Tobey" marks Eminem’s first collab with BabyTron and his fourth with Big Sean, following tracks like "No Favors" and "Detroit Vs. Everybody." If the trailer is anything to go by, this track is set to be an absolute banger.
This new single follows "Houdini," released on May 31, which mixed old school Eminem vibes with some fresh beats and a controversial edge. From referencing the Megan Thee Stallion incident to taking jabs at cancel culture, Em’s latest music is anything but boring.
For his part, Steve Miller said that he was “honoured” that Eminem interpolated "Abracadabra", addressing him in an Instagram post: “You are one of those timeless originators building something new on a long musical legacy of original artists.”
His last album, "Music to Be Murdered By," was released in January 2020, so fans are more than ready for what’s next.
